Q: I have a window that is jammed open, what can you do?
A: Matt or I can attend site and close your VELUX® roof window, then prepare a quote for repair or replacement.
Q: How much do you charge?
A: There is a standard Survey fee which includes either 1 hour fault finding, or basic window service on up to three windows or labour to re-glaze one window up to 2.5 metres high. Please ring for the current charge depending on your location. This payment would be included off future works subject to terms.
Q: Can you repair my window rather than replace for new one?
A: This depends on the condition of the window, if you send a detailed description of the window, and a photo, I am happy to give free advice via E mail or phone call.
Q: I had a great price to fit my new/replacement roof window but they never mentioned Building Control or competent persons scheme at all, is this normal?
A: If you do not follow the building control procedures set out for installing new windows or you carry out replacement window work which does not comply with the requirements contained in the Building Regulations you will have contravened them and can be fined. Chances are the contractor is not registered with a competent persons scheme and is a rogue trader. See here for more details; Planning Portal
Q: Do I need Building Regulations approval to replace/ install roof windows?
A1: New window installation; yes if new roof windows are to be fitted, the structure of the roof will need to be altered, and this could affect the stability of the building. If you are unsure if the alteration will require approval please talk to PMV Maintenance or contact your Local building control Office. Please visit here LABC
A2: To install Replacement windows; Yes, there are 2 options;
·To have the work carried out by an installer such as PMV Maintenance who are registered with the Competent Persons Scheme;
·To make a Building Regulation application*

Q: I have a VELUX electrical system/window/smoke vent, can you repair/service/maintain this?
A: Yes, again please give as much detail for free advice or a bespoke quote.
Q: What qualifies you to fix my window?
A: I have worked in the maintenance and repair of property including commercial, residential and private for over 32 years, including 15 years as a VELUX service Technician and over Four years as an independent VELUX® Specialist. My Son Matthew is a fully qualified level 3 Carpenter and Joiner with over 3 years Dedicated VELUX® installation and repair experience.
Q: How soon can you attend site?
A: This depends upon the area you live, and the availability of parts required, on average 1 to 2 weeks. If you have a window jammed open, we can offer an emergency service for closure of the window.
Q: Can you dispose of my old glass or window?
A: We try to encourage people to recycle their own waste as so much goes into landfill there are many waste recycling centres and companies that specialise in disposal, however we can dispose of customers old products for them but charge depending on number and size of product for the service as we are registered waste carriers with the Environment agency
